It’s properly hot outside this week–over 90 degrees almost every day! Ella mostly just lounges these days, as if she’s a Southern matriarch in need of a tall glass of iced tea. I’m convinced she’s a lazy dog at heart who masquerades as an energetic puppy from time to time.
Last week, I promised to give feedback on Good Habit’s gluten-free cookies. I was sent three varieties: carrot cake, chocolate chip, and dark chocolate chip peanut butter. Each came packaged individually to maintain freshness — perfect if you buy a bunch but don’t plan on eating them all at once.

I started out by trying a chunk of each cookie, though I admit I did go back for seconds (okay, and thirds) of the carrot cake cookie. The others were happily polished off over the weekend. They were all good and contained dried fruit, nuts, and seeds, all of which you can see below.
My favorite was, hands-down, the carrot cake. Which is interesting, ’cause I’m not really a carrot cake kinda gal. I liked the texture of this one the most — it was moist inside and crispy on the outside.

The chocolate chip and PB dark chocolate chip cookies has the same texture, which was drier. Not in a bad way, like a lot of gluten-free cookies, just not as moist as the carrot cake. I confess that I thought these two cookies tasted pretty similar — the peanut butter flavor wasn’t too prominent. So if you’re a hardcore PB-lover, you might not be a fan.
I’m not sure which cookie this is (they looked similar, too), but you can see the difference in texture.

Overall, I thought they were all great. I definitely prefer a moister, chewier cookie, but I’ve never found a gluten-free cookie that’s the right texture for me. I’ve sampled a lot looking for the right fit, and these were up there on the list of those I’ve liked. Out of all the samples I was sent, I think I liked the granola the best, but the cookies are a close second.
Now for the good news: The generous ladies at Good Habit are giving away a sampler pack of their gluten-free goodies. It includes:
- 1 bag granola (it’s a big bag!)
- 2 carrot cake cookies
- 2 PB dark chocolate chip cookies
- 2 chocolate chip cookies
All 100% gluten-free. (Though, to be honest, even those who can eat gluten would love these).
You can enter two ways (if you do both, that’s two entries!)
1) Leave a comment on this post telling me your all-time favorite cookie flavor. (Mine’s my grandma’s oatmeal-chocolate chip-dried cherry-toffee bits cookies).
2) Tweet the following: I just entered a giveaway on @hadorii ‘s blog to win @goodhabitfood gluten-free treats. Enter here: wp.me/phhGN-pF
The giveaway will be open through July 27th. Unfortunately, only those living in the continental U.S. can win, but feel free to spread the word if you live elsewhere! Good luck!

My all time favorite is a dark chocolate cookie (no chips) with a glob of peanut butter in the middle.
I’ve been getting into gluten-free foods lately and might will try that chocolate/peanut butter one.
My favorite flavor has to be the dark, savory molasses cookie my mother made years ago. I’m not a huge fan of store-bought cookies, but I look forward to giving these a shot!
Forgot to ask — are they all vegan? In any case, if they are, I’m entering! Oatmeal and anything carrot are my fave cookies.
The cookies aren’t vegan, but the granola is!
My all time fave is oatmeal raisin. But I do loves the carrot cake and would totally be into trying the one from Good Habit!
Peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips – just the right balance of pb to chocolate!

My favorite ……Oatmeal Raisin with walnuts!!! =D

Quite torn. I love a good sandwhich cookie (slightly bordering on a whoopie pie). My favorite is a pumpkin cookie with a chai tea flavored filling. But not too sugary sweet. Its my favorite fall treat. Other than that, there is no willpower within me to deny myself a moist and delicious chocolate chip cookie. Simple, basic, but always appreciated.
Nothing beats grandma’s chocolate chip cookies! They’ve always been my favorite!
My favorite cookie is the garbage cookie my mom makes – its got anything we can find in the pantry – and its different every time

It’s a tie: growing up, I’d have to say that it was my mom’s “Monster” cookies, which really were a horrifying combination of ingredients like chocolate chips, m&ms, peanut butter, brown sugar, oatmeal, and pretty much anything else to be found in the kitchen. Now that I’m a much more conscious sweets-connoisseur, it would have to be dark chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. I’m really a sucker for any cookie with pumpkin…
My favorite cookies are my mom’s chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies
