I’m a big fan of celery. It’s cooling, refreshing–and helps the body detox. It’s also delicious.
For those times where I’ve been eating less than… holistically, and I feel hungry and yet stuffed to the gill, I make this recipe. It can also be used as a side dish.
Easy Celery Saute
1 package celery, each stalk rinsed and sliced into 1/2 in on the diagonal
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds*
1/4 tsp garlic powder (you could also you fresh garlic, minced and added towards the end)
salt and pepper to taste
Heat medium skillet. Add olive oil and heat (about 30 seconds). Add celery, garlic power and stir. Cook for about 5 minutes, until cooked through yet still crispy. Add sesame seeds and toss to coat. Serve immediately.
* To toast sesame seeds, put them in a small skillet and turn on medium heat. Shake the pan regularly to ensure even cooking. Cook until lightly brown, take off heat and remove from pan. (This can be done in advance–you can save toasted sesame seeds for a few weeks).
