Review and Giveaway: Clean Plates NYC

clean-platesI was sent a review copy of Clean Plates NYC, a new guide to healthy eating in NYC.  It was co-authored by nutrition coach Jared Koch and food critic Alex Van Buren. Together, they traversed Manhattan in search of healthy and tasty restaurants.

What I like about this guide is that it’s designed for everyone: vegetarians, vegans, carnivores, raw foodists, locavores, slow foodists… everyone.  Each restaurant included had to  be approved by both the nutrition expert and the food critic, so you’re guaranteed a healthful, tasty meal. The reviews are beautifully written and include must-have dishes at each spot.

While I take issue with the inclusion of a few restaurants (a fried chicken joint? really?) , the majority of them are spot on.  They included some of my favorites — Souen, Lupa, Hangawi, and Blue Hill.  Plus, the book itself is sized perfectly so you can take it with you as you explore the city.

E-mail me your go-to healthy restaurant by Thursday, April 30th.  The winner will be announced on Friday, May 1st!

I love this book! It’s my go-to healthy eating bible. I turn to it when I don’t know where to go but want something good to eat. Some of the restaurants in here can hurt the wallet but it also features lots of little cafes, bakeries, and delis.
