Milk Thistle is one of my favorite supplements for detoxing. The supplement is especially good for women who experience PMS symptoms. The liver is responsible for processing hormones in our bodies, so if it’s not functioning 100%, hormones can build up. Estrogen is a hormone that, if you have too much in your body, can lead to classic PMS symptoms such as bloating, cramps, and moodiness. I generally advise my clients who have these symptoms to take milk thistle once a day (with lots of water) the week before their period starts. Most report back that they experience fewer symptoms.
RECOMMENDATION: To relieve PMS symptoms, try one capsule of milk thistle per day for 7 days before your period. For men or women who drink on a regular basis, take milk thistle every other day to help out the liver.
